Whether one is singing, playing or listening to Britten’s War Requiem, this masterwork evokes powerful emotions and memories. The BCCO StoryChorus team is inviting you to share your responses to our performance and this work.
Perhaps you will be singing in memory of a loved one who served in the military, or listening and recalling a time when you joined a peace march. Your war experience or that of a family member or friend could also be expressed as well as any other emotions or memories that have surfaced. Orchestra members and audience will also be invited to contribute to this public tribute to those in our communities who have fought in war and struggle for peace.
At the concerts, we will be hosting a table and placards where you can express those thoughts and feelings quickly and, if you choose, anonymously. Small pieces of paper will be available so you can write a sentence or two and put it up on boards that will be set up at our table and near the Veterans’ art and poetry display in the upstairs lobby upstairs at Hertz Hall.
Please feel free to let your friends and family know about this project, as you invite them to the concert. Also—for those who can’t join us for the concerts—please add your thoughts in the comments below.
On behalf of BCCO and all who have been part of making the performances of the War Requiem a truly special.
