Please share your reflections, stories, photos about Bill Beahrs in the comments below, to create a community tribute to our long-time singing friend.
We were saddened this week to learn of Bill Beahr’s unexpected death on December 6, 2016. Bill was a devoted BCCO bass, and had sung with BCCO under all three conductors, traveling with the chorus on its European tours.
Bill’s brother’s family sent us these thoughts:
A resident of Berkeley, Bill grew up in Palo Alto, California, where he was a graduate of Stanford University. He also earned an MBA at the University of Santa Clara. He worked as a computer programmer for the State of California until his retirement several years ago.
His most passionate interest was his membership in the Berkeley Community Chorus, where he sang for almost a decade. Beahrs family members noted that, “The joy Bill experienced from participating in the Chorus reflected the group’s inclusive community spirit, which is so invaluable in these challenging times.”
Bill is survived by an extended family of three generations, with 14 living in the Berkeley area.
