One of the first profiles on StoryChorus was Christian Fritze’s Buy Me Some Peanuts and Cracker Jack…, a tribute to Betty Pigford, a BCCO force of nature and lover of baseball. This was particularly fitting, as Betty was a primary force behind fundraising for special 50th anniversary projects, including the creation of StoryChorus. She also spurred us into action to begin creation of an archive of BCCO materials. She was positive, encouraging, and had the rare skill of getting people to say yes. She was funny, formidable, and one of my heroes. Like so many in the chorus, I miss her terribly—despite her move to southern California, she always seemed to be present with us.
So on behalf of all who have worked over the past three years to add to create StoryChorus and the History Archive, thank you Betty! BCCO’s story is richer — and will be better remembered — because of you.
And we ask all of you in our community to contribute to Betty’s vision and to share your memories, photos and thoughts about Betty in the comment section below.
