This week’s virtual gathering featured Derek Tam, talking about playing Bach’s Goldberg Variations on harpsichord. Derek was scheduled to perform the variations live this spring, but with the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, he’s been releasing one a day on FaceBook.
Before Derek joined us, Ming spoke with us about musical interpretation and expression. He used as an example Johannes Brahms’ Fantasie No. 1, Opus 116, written in 1892, played by two different pianists: Grigori Sokolov and Andras Schiff.
Julia led us in our weekly warm up, and Paul led us in a rousing sing-a-long version of the Beatles’ Hey Jude.
